About Liani.....
Liani is Brazilian (from Santos, São Paulo) and samba has been part of her life since childhood.
She has taken part in several carnavals in Brazil from North (Salvador, Bahia) to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

She moved to London in 2010 and joined Dance My Way academy at Pineapple studios, where she stayed for 3 years, as a dancer and samba teacher.

Since 2015, she has been a Passista at Paraiso School of Samba. In 2017, she was elected the Rainha de Bateria (Queen of the drums) after a competitive performance between 11 candidates.

At the famous London Notting Hill carnival 2017, she paraded in front of the Bateria (drummers), one of the most prestigious position within a school of samba.

She has been a freelance dancer since 2015 and she has been performing with different bands and dance groups in the U.K. such as Tropicalia Band, UNIKA dance, Viramundo band, Beats of Brazil (Scotland) and Oi Brasil. Tropicalia band is her main dance group and she has done countless shows with them including The Brit awards after party (2017 and 2018) and TV show ‘This morning’.

As Rainha de Bateria of Paraiso School of Samba 2017, she has done a few carnaval parades such as Brazilica (Liverpool), The City of Perth Salute, Notting Hill carnival and Hackney One carnival.

As of this year she has been a samba teacher at Paraiso School of Samba and ala president (she’ll be coordinating an ala in the next Notting Hill carnaval).

Liani has been trained by different Brazilian and non-Brazilian teachers along her samba (also Latin dance) journey and she’s constantly taking samba classes and training daily. In her last visit to Brazil (2018), she did private classes with Cintia Mello (Musa e Rainha de Bateria Tucuruvi school of samba) and also Mayara Santos (coach de samba). For her, samba is her religion and a way to be connected to her country and her Brazilian roots. Her workshops will concentrate on samba no pé, stamina (samba rasgado) and musicality (samba sincopado).
